Purpose Statement ~ Dissertation Blog Post 3
(Tobin, 2012) |
The purpose
of this study is to determine the intra-rater reliability of diet
recommendations and compensatory strategies evaluated through the modified
barium swallow study (MBS) and the fiberoptic endoscopic evaluation of swallow
(FEES) in individuals with and without dysphagia. By determining a strong intra-rater
reliability clinicians may have the opportunity for an accessible instrumental
assessment of swallow. Conversely, if a low intra-rater reliability is found
then researchers may have the opportunity of further exploration into
accessible instrumental studies.
